MANDALUYONG, Philippines – June 17, 2022

As part of one of our signature programs, Safety Delivered, supported by The UPS Foundation, the AIP Foundation team hosted an orientation workshop and teacher training in Eulogio Rodriguez Integrated School and Highway Hills Integrated School.

The training aims to equip teachers from the two program schools with knowledge and skills on road safety, Particularly on helmet use in order for them to provide rolling out training to their students. The training covered 5 topics: (1) Road safety crisis globally and in the Philippines) (2) Introduction of AIP Foundation, (3) Introduction of Safety Delivered Program, (4) Helmet use knowledge and skills, and (5) Roles and Responsibilities of teachers inSafety Deliveredprogram.

The teachers will thus be better equipped with knowledge and skills on helmet safety, to pass them on to their primary school students. AIP Foundation wishes to inspire them to become role models and raise awareness about road safety and helmet wearing among students and parents, and beyond in their community. By the end of 2022, theSafety Deliveredprogram aims to distribute 3,800 helmets in total to students and teachers from 5 program schools in the Philippines (Mandaluyong, Filemon P. Javier, Dona Yangco Basilia, Highways HIll, and Eulogio elementaty/integrated schools).

Safety Deliveredis a program implemented by AIP Foundation to work with primary school students and motorcyclists in high-risk areas in India, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam by reducing road crash injuries and fatalities among children and vulnerable road users through inclusive helmet distribution and education, combined with advocacy and awareness initiatives which target youth, community members, civil society, and governments to address high-risk road behaviors.
