The Slashing Two-wheeled Accidents by Leveraging Eyecare (STABLE) project is implemented in Vietnam in collaboration with the University of Pharmacy and Medicine in Ho Chi Minh city, the Traffic Development and Strategy Institute (TDSI), and AIP Foundation. In November 2022, a workshop under STABLE was organized to introduce the project to key government stakeholders, including National Traffic Safety Committee, Ministry of Transport, and Ministry of Health. After the workshop, they will continue to be involved in the project trial implementation as technical advisors and also play a role in the advocacy of tighter vision regulation for motorcycle driving in the final phase of the trial. This is the very first study of its kind with long-term objectives in policy impact in Vietnam. The project will be implemented by collaboration with three organizations.
"AIP Foundation is proud to be part of this pioneering study in Vietnam. There are many aspects of the global road safety crisis that remain unresearched and uninvestigated. We hope that the results of the STABLE project will raise awareness of the issue of poor health, eyesight, and driving. Only once we understand the problem can we find sustainable solutions," shares Mai Tran, Program Lead for STABLE at AIP Foundation.
