BANGKOK, Thailand - August 29, 2018

We recently held an information session at Sukhothai School, one of the schools in Bangkok where the new speed limit 50 km/h was introduced this February. Led by Slow Down to Save Lives project coordinator Jarunee Jarusruangchai; Pisith Wongthiathana, a Legal Development Program member; and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation’s Director of Legal Development and Consulting 2, the session aimed to help fifth and sixth graders learn about speed and road safety.

“Slow Down to Save Lives”, supported by the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP), is a two-year project aimed at advocating for maximum speed limits of no more than 50 km/h in urban areas. Currently, over 30 provinces in Thailand including Bangkok have implemented these safe speed zones.
